Is Troy Springs a Better Training Location than Alexander Springs?

Crystal clear waters and an approachable max depth averaging 70 ft make Troy springs in Branford Florida and attractive alternative choice for open water certifications and refreshers. But is it any better than the tired-and-true Alexander springs?
Traditionally, Alexander springs is a great choice for larger classes and timid students alike – providing a strong flow, great visibility, plenty of wildlife, sandy bottom, and a comfortable floor at just under 30 ft. This ease of access and safety makes Alexander the top choice for dive shops hosting large classes, affording a large degree of control for an instructor/divemaster duo. However, for a smaller or individual class this spring may become repetitive or even boring. Yuck!
While not sporting nearly as much flow as Alexander, Troy has far more to see and do. If one chooses dates carefully it is not uncommon to have the park alone, a sight unseen in Alexander. Troy springs brings the attractions with a crater like spring, large (somewhat silty) shallows for practicing skills, abundant turtles, and the wreck of the Madison. This civil war wreck sits in the shallows, now a skeleton of the past; Turtles and gar flutter through its eroded deck. While not recommended for larger groups, Troy is much better choice for smaller ones.
